The Google Translate extension can be downloaded from the Chrome Web Store. With the extension, users on highlighting text in a different language will see a Google Translate icon above, which can be clicked to translate the text. Users can also right click and choose Google Translate. Meanwhile, to translate the entire web page, users will find an icon in the upper right corner of the browser window.
"When you're browsing the web, you might come across a page where some of the text is in a different language. With the new update to the Google Translate Chrome extension, you can translate just that piece of text, without worrying about the rest of the page," writes announcement post on Google Chrome blog.
In August, Google had released a long-awaited stable 64-bit version of Chrome for Windows 7 and Windows 8, alongside updating the regular 32-bit edition to Chrome version 37 for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
The company had noted that the Chrome for Windows 64-bit has improved speed on many graphics and media benchmarks. The stable version is faster because it leverages optimisations made to processors and compilers, and has a modern instruction set compared to the 32-bit edition. It is also more secure.
