Ixigo, a travel search marketplace, has launched a new feature for its cabs app that will allow users to book a cab with just 1-tap. The biggest highlight of the new 1-tap booking feature is it works at places without Internet or weak GPS signals.

The feature will be currently available for Android users only. Ixigo explains that the feature uses several combinations of data including the user's location through existing PNR confirmations on the user device in text messages for when the Internet connection doesn't work to book a cab for the user.

The company claims that with the all-new 1-Tap Booking feature, users can book the nearest taxi in less than 5 seconds with an intuitive button that is present on the home screen of the device.

Currently, Ixigo cabs app allows users to search and book from multiple app-based cab providers including Ola, TaxiForSure, EasyCabs, and Jugnoo among others directly from within its own app.

Ixigo cabs app also comes with a handy feature that prompts a user. If a user has saved PNR details of their upcoming trips on the Ixigo travel app, the cabs app will send users a prompt just before they reach destination or on arrival, even without Internet or GPS

Commenting on the launch, Rajnish Kumar, Ixigo CTO and Co-Founder said, "Opening multiple cab apps to compare ETAs and pricing, and then booking a cab consumes time, especially when you are at a place with weak Internet and GPS signals. On average it takes a minimum of 20 seconds to book a cab on any of the existing cab apps. With 1-Tab Cab Bookings, we allow users to book their nearest cab in just 3 seconds by tapping and holding a button on their home screen. The best part is that this feature works even without internet and GPS."

For booking a cab with Ixigo app, users will have to open the cabs app and click on the "1-tap booking" toggle in the main menu. This will result in a dedicated cabs button appearing on the home screen which when tapped will automatically find cheapest cab in the area and send car and driver details to the user.
