Twitter on Tuesday announced the rollout of its updated Android app that brings a new, bigger profile layout including larger cover and profile photos, a biography on the profile page, as well as easier viewing of all tweets, photos, and favourites from the profile page.

The announcement tweet reads, "We're rolling out new profiles on Twitter for Android: it's now easier to view bios, tweets and photos."

As yet, the Twitter app on Google Play India is not updated with the latest tweaks from the company. Notably, the last maintenance update from Twitter for the Android app in India was on Monday.

Meanwhile on Monday, Twitter was reported to have acquired live video streaming app Periscope. The Wall Street Journal claimed that the micro-blogging website has quietly acquired the app, citing people familiar with the matter.

The report stressed that Twitter's acquisition of the live video streaming Periscope app is "confirmed." It adds that Twitter paid slightly less than $100 million for the Periscope app, which is still in beta testing.

The reports about acquisition of live video streaming Periscope app may also tie-in with Twitter's announcements on the native video sharing support. In January, the company added feature to share videos of about 30-seconds or less in length.
