The arrival of the popular space killer franchise to consoles seems to be the big stunt that Doom 3 is using to advertise its BFG edition.

The BFG Edition will include remastered varieties of the 2004 first-person shooter, along with its 2005 expansion 'Resurrection of Evil'. The game also features 'The Lost Mission', an all-new seven-mission pack. The edition will also have Doom and Doom 2, seen as the precursors of the entire FPS genre.

Doom 3: BFG will receive a high-definition face-lift with new lighting and rendering as well as stereoscopic 3D support, 5.1 surround sound, and the feature of trophies and achievements.

The gameplay will have a new checkpoint system and players can use an all new armour-mounted flashlight, which will allow players to operate weaponry while simultaneously illuminating the dark environs of Doom 3. The previous editions of the game required a shift between the player's flashlight and heavy weaponry that makes Doom so popular.

The trailer for the new game was classic Doom. Honest to the gory legacy and full of weapons, it sends chills down your shoulder, repelling and hooking you at the same time. One thing is for certain, Doom 3: BFG will be full of bloody violence and lots of monsters to kill, reminding us what BFG is all about.

Doom 3: BFG will be priced at $40 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and $30 for the PC. It will release on October 16, 2012.
