  • Blood and Wine is the last we'll see of The Witcher series.
  • CD Projekt RED has confirmed it is not working on The Witcher 4.
  • Cyberpunk 2077 and another title are in the works at the company.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is possibly one of the best if not the best game of this generation thus far. While developer CD Projekt RED is putting the final touches to its last expansion, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Blood and Wine, it has also confirmed that it has no plans for another new Witcher game.

"We honestly don't know. We don't have anything planned as of now to be honest on the next Witcher," said CD Projekt Co-Founder Marcin Iwinski in conversation with Eurogamer.

"As we said before, never say never but right now it's really Blood and Wine. This is the end. Blood and Wine is the closing and there won't be any Witcher any time soon - if there ever will be one. And I would really like to see how people feel about it, if they will enjoy it."

The reason for The Witcher 3 being the last game in the series is in its future plans. The Polish company recently revealed its intentions to have its long awaited role-playing game (RPG) Cyberpunk 2077 out after 2017 and another unnamed big budget triple-A RPG out between 2017 and 2021. The latter led many to assume it would be The Witcher 4 but Iwinski claimed otherwise.

"We are a publicly traded company so we cannot comment on that but I can assure you we are not working on another Witcher," he said.

With CD Projekt RED working on Cyberpunk 2077 and its mystery RPG, Iwinski also hinted that its working on "a new type of video game format previously unexplored by the studio" which could possibly point to its intentions to work on virtual reality what with the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift available and the PS VR slated for later this year.

If you still need more adventures of Geralt of Rivia, the Blood and Wine expansion will be available from May 31. In India you can expect to pay Rs. 369 for it on Steam (as that was what the previous expansion, Hearts of Stone was priced at) or $9.99 (approximately Rs. 666) on GOG.com for a DRM-free version.

Assuming CD Projekt RED stick to the same pricing of Hearts of Stone on the PS4 and Xbox One, expect to pay Rs. 832 and Rs. 760 respectively.
