Nvidia is set to announce a new gaming product at MWC 2015, and the company has begun distributing press invitations for its event on March 3. The chipmaker is claiming the upcoming product was 'five years in the making'.

The press invitation features the edge of a laptop-like device, below which it is written "Made to Game". The invite also features a statement from Jensen (Jen-Hsun Huang), the President and Chief Executive Officer of Nvidia, saying that, "More than 5 years in the making, what I want to share with you will redefine the future of gaming."

Android Police, which also got the press invite from Nvidia, speculates the Santa-Clara based tech firm will announce the next generation of Shield tablet or console that's rumoured to ship with the recently unveiled Tegra X1 processor. However, if the device turns out to be a laptop, one can expect it to go against the likes of Alienware or the recently launched refreshed version of Razer Blade gaming laptop, which runs on Nividia GeForce GTX 970M GPU.

The Nvidia Tegra X1 SoC, unveiled at CES 2015, has an 8-core 64-bit CPU and a 256-core Maxwell-based GPU and is claimed to be the first mobile chip to provide a teraflop of processing power. Nvidia notes that it is equivalent to the fastest supercomputer in the world in 2000. In addition to this, the Tegra X1 is also much more efficient than the Tegra K1. Tegra K1 currently powers Google Nexus 9 tablet.

The renowned graphics company also showcased demos of two computing platforms, Drive CX and Drive PX, for cars.
