  • The keyboard has an Xbox key instead of Right-CTRL
  • Keys appear to be mechanical with dynamic back-lighting
  • Razer will officially unveil the peripherals at CES 2019

Microsoft had announced that keyboard and mouse support would be coming to the Xbox One gaming consoles back in September, first to those in the Xbox Insider program with general availability in November. The company also announced Razer as a partner who will be producing a wireless gaming mouse and keyboard combo that's "Designed for Xbox". Now it seems we have a first look at what the peripherals may actually look like.

Though no price, availability or even Xbox One specific functions have been announced yet, we can immediately notice that the Right-CTRL key has been replaced by the Xbox logo. This, we assume, would be equivalent to the home button on the controller in functionality. We can also see an extension on the side of the keyboard that seems to work as a hard mat for the wireless mouse. This should be immensely handy considering that most gamers may want to use these peripherals on a couch, instead of a desk. To recall, the Microsoft announcement for keyboard and mouse support for all on the Xbox One during the company's X018 event.

The new Razer for Xbox One keyboard seems to boast mechanical keys with what appears to be Razer's "Chroma" dynamic colour-changing lighting system. We had earlier reported that the console could have control of the keyboard lighting system, giving game developers a chance to change the lighting according to the game's requirements. The company is teasing on a dedicated micro-site that the launch will take place January 8, which happens to be the first day of CES 2019. The company late last month teased the launch of its new keyboard and mouse designed for the Xbox One in a video, alongside announcing that over 50 of its keyboard and mice already supported the console.

As of now, keyboard and mouse supports has only been announced on a limited number of games including Fortnite and Warframe, though the list is likely to expand to more titles in the future. We expect to have more details at the official unveil during CES 2019.
