Precious little is known about open-world action-hacking game Watch Dogs 2 at this point of time. Aside from well, that it's due sometime this year and is set in San Francisco.

With Ubisoft prepping for a big reveal on June 8, it appears that IGN has leaked the release date of the game via an ad banner that appeared on the site today, nearly a full day and a half before the official reveal. You can expect it on November 15 this year. No platforms have been mentioned but safe to say that unlike the first game which made it to the PS3 and Xbox 360, Watch Dogs 2 will probably be a PC, PS4, and Xbox One release only.

This isn't the first time IGN's ad banners have revealed a game's release date prior to an official announcement. Overwatch received the same treatment in March.

Nonetheless, it's good to see that Ubisoft has an open-world game to make up for the absence of Assassin's Creed which is taking the year off.

Since 2010, Ubisoft has diligently doled out game after game in its long-running historical murder simulator. According to sources speaking to gaming blog Kotaku, and those on 4Chan compiled on gaming forum NeoGAF claim that we will not see a mainline Assassin's Creed game this year, instead opting for a 2017 release.

A month later, Ubisoft confirmed that Assassin's Creed is indeed skipping this year. It will be interesting to see how the company improves on the original Watch Dogs. The first was a fun, if not flawed open-world game that had a few rough edges - understandably to ensure it was released after many a delay. Hopefully this is not the case with its sequel.
