Ahead of the launch of the new MacBook Air models powered by Intel's new Haswell processor, Apple dealers are offering previous generation MacBook Air models at a discount of up to Rs. 12,000.

The 11-inch MacBook Air with 64GB SSD storage is now available at a price of Rs. 61,900, a discount of Rs. 6,000 on its previous price of Rs. 67,900. The 128GB SSD storage variant of the 11-inch MacBook Air is now available for Rs. 65,900, down Rs. 9,000 from its earlier price of Rs. 74,900. These models feature a 1.7GHz processor and come with 4GB of RAM.

You'll be able to get a much bigger discount on the 13-inch variants of the MacBook Air. The 128GB SSD storage variant now costs Rs.69,900, while the 256GB SSD variant costs Rs.82,900, a discount of Rs. 12,000 compared to the previous prices of these devices. These models feature a 1.8GHz processor and come with 4GB of RAM.

We checked with leading Apple resellers in Delhi who confirmed the above prices. We've also heard that some dealers are offering an additional discount of Rs. 4,000 over and above the revised prices on some of the models.

Apple's India website lists the prices of the new MacBook Air models that were introduced recently at the WWDC keynote event. The new models are expected to be available by end of July. As mentioned earlier, the 11-inch MacBook Air has been priced at Rs. 67,900 for the base model and Rs. 81,900 for the 256GB version. The bigger 13-inch MacBook Air will be for sale at Rs. 74,900 for the base model and Rs. 88,900 for the 256GB one.

In addition to this, Apple dealers are also offering a students discount of Rs.12,000 on MacBook Pro models, iMac, and MacBook Pro with Retina display, and a Rs.4,000 discount on the Mac Mini under its 'Back to School' campaign. Some retailers are offering discounts of up to Rs. 14,000 on some of the higher end models. It's worth nothing that these offers are available with only select Apple stores, so you are advised to check availability with your local store.

The Back to School offers are available to college students who need to present their College ID and fee slip to get the discount. Some resellers are also demanding an address proof. The offer is available to college and university teachers as well.
