Following the unveiling of the LaVie Z series of ultra-light laptops at CES, which included Lenovo's lightest laptop to date at 780 grams - the Lenovo LaVie HZ550 - the Chinese PC and mobile giant has finally put two of its LaVie Z laptops up for sale, at a higher price than previously tipped at the trade show.

Available to purchase in the US, the 848-gram LaVie Z costs $1,699 (roughly Rs. 1,08,000) before a $200 web rebate for a limited period, and the 925-gram LaVie Z 360 costs $1,849 (roughly Rs. 1,17,400) ahead of a $150 rebate.

Apart from the weight, the two laptops are otherwise identical - though the Lenovo LaVie Z 360 bears the added hinge that lets it rotate 360-degrees. As we mentioned above, Lenovo has not launched the 780-gram base model as previously unveiled, but a 848-gram variant that still beats the 12-inch MacBook 921 grams, 11-inch MacBook Air's 1.08 kgs.

The 64-bit Windows 8.1-based LaVie Z (and LaVie Z 360) features a 13.3-inch WQHD (2560x1440) LED-backlit IPS anti-glare display, and is powered by an Intel Core i7-5500U Processor (dual-core with Hyper-Threading, clocked at 2.4GHz, Turbo clock 3GHz) coupled with integrated Intel HD Graphic 5500 graphics and up to 8GB of LPDDR3 1600MHz RAM. It comes with 256GB of SSD storage, and measures 319.0x212.1x17.0mm.

The company promises up to 7 hours of video playback when detailing the 6-cell Li-polymer battery of the LaVie Z and LaVie Z 360. Connectivity options include WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.0, two USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI-out, a SD card reader, and a combo headphone and mic jack. Apart from a 720p HD webcam, Lenovo is also touting the onboard Yamaha AudioEngine utility.

Lenovo last week launched the ThinkCentre Chromebox, a small form factor Chrome OS-based PC meant for students and entrepreneurs. The desktop was announced at the company's Accelerate 2015 Partner forum in Las Vegas. The Lenovo ThinkCentre Chromebox starts at $199 (roughly Rs. 12,600) and will be available buy in June.

The new Chromebox by Lenovo is said to be a one-litre desktop (with a cubic capacity of roughly 1000cc) that can be easily managed due to its compact size. Lenovo is also touting the "full ecosystem of optional accessories while Google's Chrome operating system offers a wide range of easy to use applications to learn, share, and collaborate in a highly secure environment."
