After being criticised for the high prices of its new GeForce RTX series of GPUs, Nvidia brought its modern Turing architecture to more affordable price points by ditching the dedicated ray tracing hardware, with a new GeForce GTX 16xx series. These GPUs are aimed at gamers who are looking to upgrade from a mid-range graphics card that's now a few years old, but don't necessarily want all the bells and whistles of ray tracing, which isn't even widely supported by games yet. After the well-received GeForce GTX 1660 Ti and GeForce GTX 1660, it looks as though Nvidia is almost ready to launch a new GeForce GTX 1650. Although it has been rumoured for a while, we now have leaks indicating some of its specifications and showing off retail packages as well as renders of the actual graphics cards.

Noted leaker Roland Quandt has posted images to Twitter showing renders of GeForce GTX 1650 graphics cards from Palit and Gainward. From the boxes pictured, we can tell that Palit's card is called the Palit GeForce GTX 1650 Storm X, while Gainward's is called the Gainward GeForce GTX 1650 Pegasus 4GB OC. Both have 4GB of GDDR5 RAM. The cards themselves are short, but their single-fan coolers will occupy two slots in a desktop PC cabinet. The rear panels of both cards have only one DVI port and one HDMI port.

Videocardz has another leak of a purported Zotac GeForce GTX 1650 OC card, also with a short single-fan cooler and seemingly confirming the 4GB of GDDR5 that this GPU will ship with. This card has one DVI port, one DisplayPort, and one HDMI port for outputs. It should be noted that these are all 3D renders and not photographs of actual products spotted in the wild.

Most interestingly, all the leaked images point to the possibility that GeForce GTX 1650 graphics cards will not require any PCIe power connectors, which means they will run only off the 75W of power that the PCIe bus can provide. This should make these cards extremely attractive upgrade options for older PCs or even small-form-factor ones with less capable power supplies.

The purported GeForce GTX 1650 GPU is said to be codenamed TU117, which puts it in the Turing family along with the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti and GeForce GTX 1660. Nvidia will be hoping to take on AMD's Radeon RX 570 and Radeon RX 580 GPUs at the bottom end of the market. Previous leaks have pointed to a potential April 22 launch date. As with its bigger siblings, it is unlikely that Nvidia will release a Founders Edition card of its own. Given the starting price of Rs. 21,500 for the GeForce GTX 1660, it is likely that the GeForce GTX 1650 will come in well under Rs. 20,000.
