Acer announces Liquid E2 smartphone with quad-core processor, 8-megapixel camera

Acer has announced the Liquid E2 smartphone, the successor to the Liquid E1, that is powered a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. Just like the Liquid E1, the Liquid E2 also comes with 4.5-inch qHD display, dual speakers with DTS sound and a dual-SIM option. It runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

The Liquid E2 sports an 8-megapixel auto-focus rear camera with LED flash and BSI sensor, and a 2-megapixel front camera. The company mentions that users can take up to 8 pictures per second holding down the camera soft-key through the continuous shooting mode. The camera is also capable of recording 1080p videos at 30 frames per second.The E1 on the other hand has a 5-megapixel rear camera and 0.3-megapixel front camera.

The Liquid E2 has 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory that can be expanded via microSD card. It is powered by a 2000mAh battery and promises to deliver talk time of 9 hours and standby time of up to 450 hours. It comes pre-loaded with Acer's own DTS-ready video and music apps and also features FM radio functionality.

The smartphone will be available in Belgium, Netherlands, Ukraine, France, followed by Spain, UK, Italy, Germany and Russia starting mid-May at a suggested price of 229 Euros. The Acer Liquid E2 will be available in Rock Black and Classic White colours.

There's no word on the phone's India availability and pricing as of now.

Acer had announced the launch of Liquid E1 and Liquid Z2 dual-SIM smartphones just before the Mobile World Congress (MWC). As we mentioned earlier, the Liquid E1 sports similar specifications save for the processor and camera. The Acer Liquid Z2 is an entry-level smartphones that comes with a 1GHz processor and offers choice of 3-megapixel or 5-megapixel camera and a dual-SIM option. It comes with a 3.5-inch HVGA screen.

Acer had also announced the launch of Liquid C1 smartphone powered by Intel's Atom Z2420 chipset in Thailand, earlier this year.
