Close on the heels of the launch of new 15-inch MacBook Pro and cheaper iMac with Retina 5K display, Apple has also quietly added a new Lightning Dock for the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. This official dock, which will work with any iPhone (or iPod touch) that has a Lightning port, is priced at a $39 (approximately Rs. 2,500).

The Cupertino tech giant has launched this dock a full nine months after the new iPhones were announced. The dock has a fairly basic boxy design made entirely of plastic. And of course, it comes in Apple's signature white colour. The dock has a single male Lightning connector rising from its top part and it is placed on a mound to handle the weight of the device. The raised bump should enable you to place your phone on the dock even if it has a case.

On the rear, the dock also has a Lightning female port for connecting a charger, as well as a port which can be used to insert a headphone with a 3.5mm jack. This helps you connect the dock to a computer with the USB cable to sync the iPhone and charge its battery, additionally to have handsfree conference calls, and to also connect it to powered speakers or a stereo.

Apple also recently updated the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display, adding the Force Touch trackpad, faster SSDs, and improved battery life. Even the new model of the iMac with Retina 5K Display now has a cheaper variant with a slightly slower CPU and GPU priced at Rs. 1,59,000.
