Google has sent out invitations for an Android event to be held in October 29th in New York, The Next Web reports.

The invitation reads "The playground is open" with "Join us for an Android event" at the bottom. Speculation is rife about what Google may announce at the event, including previewing/ releasing the next version of Android i.e. Android 4.2. Other rumours point to the launch of the next Google Nexus device, likely by LG, while others say "the playground is open" in the invitation indicates that we might indeed see multiple Nexus devices at the event.

The next few days are gearing up to be pretty hectic as far as product launches are concerned, with Apple's iPad mini launch, Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 launch, as well as the Microsoft Surface tablet launch all scheduled for the latter part of this month.
