Honor V8 With 12-Megapixel Dual Rear Cameras, 4GB of RAM Launched

Huawei Terminal's Honor brand has launched the V8 smartphone in China. The smartphone is up registrations on Tuesday via Vmall, JD.com and other online retailers in the country, with the first flash sale on May 17. The smartphone has been priced at CNY 2,299 (roughly Rs. 23,500) for the 4GB of RAM + 32GB inbuilt storage variant, CNY 2,499 (roughly Rs. 25,500) for 4GB of RAM + 32GB inbuilt storage variant with additional network support, and CNY 2,799 (roughly Rs. 28,600) for the 4GB of RAM + 64GB inbuilt storage variant with QHD display. No details about global availability were made available by the company.

The main highlight of the Honor V8 is the dual-camera setup it features, with two 12-megapixel rear cameras with dual-tone LED flash, laser autofocus, BSI sensor, and an f/2.2 aperture. Alongside, it bears a 8-megapixel front camera with f/2.4 aperture.

The Honor V8 comes with two choices of displays depending on the model selected. The 32GB storage models come with a 5.7-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) 386ppi display, while the 64GB storage model comes with a 5.7-inch Quad HD (1440x2560 pixels) 515ppi display.

The V8 is powered by an octa-core Kirin 950 SoC (quad-core Cortex-A72 clocked at 2.5GHz + quad-core Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.8GHz) coupled with Mali T880 GPU and 4GB of RAM. It bears either 32GB or 64GB of inbuilt storage that's expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB) in a hybrid dual-SIM layout that supports two Nano-SIM cards, or one Nano-SIM card and one microSD card.

The dual-SIM Honor V8 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Huawei's EMUI 4.1 skin atop, and supports dual-standby functionality. Connectivity options include 4G LTE with support for Indian LTE bands, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C port, 3.5mm headphone jack, and an Infrared emitter. It weighs 170 grams, and measures 157x77.6x7.75.

It runs on a 3500mAh battery with fast charging. Sensors on board include the gravity sensor, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, gyroscope, and magnetometer. It also bears a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel. It will be available in Platinum Gold, Rose Gold, Champagne Gold, and Glacier Silver colour variants.
