HTC has started sending out invites for its Double Exposure event on Friday, October 17, in New Delhi, India, indicating the launch of its HTC Desire Eye and RE camera in the region. Notably, both the devices were globally launched last week at the company's Double Exposure event in New York.

The Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer, before unveiling its Desire Eye and RE Camera devices, sent out the same Double Exposure media invitation for the October 8 event, except with a different venue and timing.

The HTC Desire Eye is a selfie-focused smartphone that features 13-megapixel sensor front-facing and rear cameras. Both the sides also feature dual-LED flash, and can shoot 1080p@30fps videos. While the rear camera features an f/2.0 aperture and a 28mm lens, the front-facing camera features an f/2.2 aperture with a 20mm lens.

The HTC Eye Experience camera app suite and the latest version of HTC Zoe, a video editing tool, have been also introduced in the HTC Desire Eye. Zoe additionally integrates with the new HTC RE camera. The video-editing app will roll out to other Android and iOS smartphones later this year.

The Taiwanese smartphone maker also unveiled its RE camera. The highlight of the RE device is the 16-megapixel sensor that can click or record with a 146-degree ultra-wide angle lens (f/2.8). The camera can record 1080p video at 30fps. Notably, HTC says the new RE device is a waterproof device with IPX7 certification, while the listing also claims that the waterproof cap enhances the RE's rating to IPX8.

Interestingly, the device does not include a power button; instead there is a built-in grip sensor that switches on the device upon grip detection. To power the device, there is an 820mAh battery claimed to be enough for clicking 1200 photos or 1 hour 40 minutes continuous full-HD video recording. The RE action camera comes with 32MB ROM and 256MB of DDR RAM with microSD card support.
