Huawei Ascend P2 has been the subject of several leaks over the past couple of months. Based on what we'd heard so far, the phone was expected to come with a full-HD screen and be thin enough to carry the moniker 'world's thinnest smartphone'. But a few things seem to have changed since then.

As per the latest report in Unwired View, Huawei has decided to ship the Ascend P2 with a 720p display instead of a full-HD display. According to the report, the company believes that for a display size below 5.0-inches 1080p is excessive, and a 720p display would suffice as far as PPI is concerned. The display has been resized to 4.7-inches, instead of the rumoured 5.0-inch screen. This step would also help keep the cost of the phone down, as well as keep the 'world's thinnest smartphone' tag.

Earlier rumours had suggested that Huawei Ascend P2 will come with a 1.8GHz quad-core processor with 2GB RAM, 8GB internal storage (non-expandable), 13-megapixel rear and 1.3-megapixel front cameras, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and a 3,000mAh battery.

The Ascend P2 is expected to make its debut when Mobile World Congress begins next week. Huawei Ascend P2 will be the successor to Huawei Ascend P1 which was unveiled at MWC last year.

Huawei Ascend P1 was unveiled in India last November as the Huawei Ascend P1 LTE, 'India's first 4G smartphone'. It is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor alongside 1GB RAM. It comes with 4.3-inch Super AMOLED qHD display with Gorilla Glass 2, 4GB internal storage (expandable by 32GB) and an 8-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash. The Ascend P1 LTE runs Android 4.0 and is powered by a 2,000mAh battery.

Huawei's Ascend P2 mini is also expected to make an appearance at Barcelona next week.
