LG may be busy promoting its flagship smartphone, the LG G2, that it announced a few days back. But it appears that the company is also working on the third iteration of the Optimus Vu smartphone, which is rumoured to be dubbed as the Vu III.

As we reported earlier, LG has got rid of the Optimus branding and had also announced that all its future smartphones with 4:3 displays will be rebranded as 'Vu'.

A new report coming out of Korea has revealed that LG is preparing to introduce its next Vu smartphone, by the end of September. It just remains to be seen how well the smartphone is received, as LG's Vu series has not been as popular as the company's Optimus series of smartphones.

As per the report, the alleged Vu III will still feature an aspect ratio of 4:3 and will sport a 5.2-inch display with a resolution of 960x1280 pixels. Other leaked specifications include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, a 13-megapixel rear snapper and support for LTE-Advanced networks. The reports further claim that the device will be unveiled on September 4 at the IFA trade show, in Berlin.

If the rumour turns out to be true, the launch of the Vu III would coincide with Samsung's much-anticipated phablet, the Galaxy Note III which is also due for a September 4 launch. Samsung has already sent official invitations for the event that it calls 'Unpacked' that is scheduled to take place just ahead of the IFA show. Alleged specifications of the Galaxy Note III have leaked as well.
