  • Meizu metal 2 is expected to be unveiled.

Meizu is holding an event in China on June 13, where it is largely expected to unveil the metal 2 smartphone. The smartphone's key specifications have also been leaked, with it allegedly passing through China's telecommunications certifications authority, Tenaa.

The event image was posted on Chinese social network Weibo by Meizu, and it shows off a key with the date written on it. Rumours largely suggest that the company is looking to expand its Blue Charm lineup with the Meizu metal 2 unveil. It will be the successor of the Meizu metal smartphone launched last October.

The Tenaa listing of the Meizu L681C, thought to be the Meizu metal 2, reveals that the upcoming smartphone will be powered by a MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core SoC clocked at 1.8GHz, and house a Mali T860 GPU. It is paired with 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of inbuilt storage. There's anothe 3GB RAM variant expected, accompanied by 32GB of inbuilt storage. There's also a microSD card slot for expansion.

The Meizu metal 2 smartphone is expected to feature a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash, and the front camera will hold a 5-megapixel lens. It is pegged to sport a full metal design, and pack a 4000mAh battery. Interestingly, the listing claims that the smartphone will run on Android 5.1 Lollipop-based Flyme OS out-of-the-box.

Other leaked specifications include a 5.5-inch full-HD (1920x1080 pixels) display. The dimensions measure at 153.6~CHECK~75.6~CHECK~8.3mm, and weighs 166gms. The connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4/ 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS support. The specs are eerily similar to the M3 note launched in India earlier in May.

Previous rumours suggest that the Meizu metal 2 smartphone is expected to be priced at CNY 999 (roughly Rs. 10,100) for the 16GB variant, and CNY 1,199 (roughly Rs. 12,200) for the 32GB variant. However, we recommend you take all the info with sufficient suspicion, and wait for the official unveil.
