The OnePlus 2, less than two weeks since its launch in the market, has got its first over-the-air (OTA) update for OxygenOS. The update brings several bug fixes and improvements, as well as another fix for the widely talked-about Stagefright vulnerability.

With the update, the smartphone's OxygenOS 2.0 operating system would be upgraded to version 2.0.1. The OTA update would also be improving the battery life of the OnePlus 2, and the user interface logic and coherence.

In addition, the device also gets a fix for the issue faced while using the pinch-to-zoom feature in Google Photos and for the Dark Mode, which was said to be unstable with some of the apps. The OnePlus 2 OTA update also fixes the issue dealing with import and export of contacts from SIM cards.

However, besides bringing support for global carrier APNs and other minor bugs, the key fix in the update is for the Stagefright vulnerability that if exploited could let attackers to take control of an Android device by sending a specially crafted media file delivered by an MMS message. OnePlus has not clarified if another patch will be necessary to be rolled out, following news that the first patch issued by Google was flawed. Google had confirmed the flaw in the patch, and issued a fix to its OEM partners and AOSP project.

OnePlus earlier this week released the OxygenOS 1.0.2 update with patches for the recent Stagefright security exploit for the OnePlus One smartphone.

The firm on its blog post has mentioned that the OTA update would first roll out in India, followed by users in other region. The OnePlus 2 update weighs 1.1GB, so users might want to switch to Wi-Fi from their Internet data packs before downloading the update.
