  • Selected people will be able to use the OnePlus 3 beforehand.
  • OnePlus 3 is expected to launch on June 14.

OnePlus has launched a community review programme called The Lab, ahead of the OnePlus 3 launch. The company is inviting interested users to sign up for the programme, which will allow them to use the device before its release and write a detailed community review of OnePlus 3.

Calling it the OnePlus 3 'peer review', OnePlus is taking applications for the next five days, where users need to write an essay of at least 500 words convincing OnePlus that they have sound knowledge on smartphones. The company will then shortlist 30 people and make them a part of this 'peer review' effort. These 30 people will get a chance to use the OnePlus 3 before anyone else, and give feedback to the company.

This of course is another OnePlus clever marketing strategy to intrigue potential buyers. More than 6,000 people had already applied for the project at the time of writing. What the company does with these reviews, remains to be seen. Not that it can tweak any of the features so near to the launch. Knowing OnePlus though, it's going to be unique.

The OnePlus 3 is expected to launch on June 14 on a virtual space station. The company has announced that for the first time, users will be able to buy the smartphone while the launch is underway, through VR. It has even upgraded its VR headset from a cardboard to a fully cased Loop VR headset. The headset will be sold by OnePlus on Amazon India for Re. 1 from June 3 to June 7.

The OnePlus 3 is expected to come with a 5.5-inch display, Snapdragon 820 SoC, 4GB RAM, 16-megapixel rear, 8-megapixel selfie camera, and NFC.
