Samsung Galaxy Core Prime 4G, Galaxy Grand Prime 4G, and Galaxy J1 4G Announced for India

Samsung has expanded its 4G handsets portfolio for the Indian market with the launch of three new Galaxy smartphones - Galaxy Core Prime 4G, Galaxy Grand Prime 4G, and Galaxy J1 4G.

All these smartphones will be hitting Indian market shelves starting second week of March and will be available starting Rs. 9,990 onwards. The exact price of each model will be revealed closer to launch.

The Samsung Galaxy Core Prime 4G, Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime 4G, and Samsung Galaxy J1 4G support TDD-LTE (2300) 4G networks used in India. The 3G-variants of the smartphones are already available in the Indian market. The three newly announced 4G phones will head to other Asian markets as well, the company announced at the annual Samsung Forum event in Bangkok, Thailand on Monday.

The Samsung Galaxy Core Prime 4G (pictured above), much like its 3G variant, runs Android 4.4 KitKat and features dual-SIM support, a 4.5-inch WVGA (480x800 pixels) PLS (plane-to-line switching) TFT LCD display, and a 1.2GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. It comes with 8GB of inbuilt storage, and supports expandable storage via microSD card (up to 64GB).

The Galaxy Core Prime 4G sports a 5-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash, and a 2-megapixel front camera. There is a 2000mAh battery on board. Apart from 4G LTE support, the smartphone includes Wi-Fi b/g/n, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, GLONASS, NFC, and 3G. The Galaxy Core Prime includes an accelerometer and proximity sensor. The Galaxy Core Prime 4G measures 131.3x68.4x8.8mm, sports matte body finish with metal sides. It will be available in Charcoal Grey, White, and Silver colours.

Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime 4G (above), on the other hand, is a dual-SIM (Micro-SIM) device running Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box and pack a 5-inch qHD (540x960 pixels) TFT display. The smartphone features a 1.2GHz quad-core (unknown chipset) processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. The Galaxy Grand Prime 4G includes 8GB of internal storage with microSD card support (up to 64GB). It supports Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS, GLONASS, NFC, and 3G. The smartphone packs a 2600mAh battery, measures 144.8x72.1x8.6mm, and weighs 156 grams. The Galaxy Grand Prime 4G will be available in White and Grey colours.

Lastly, the Samsung Galaxy J1 4G (below), similar to its 3G-variant, features dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) support and runs Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box.

The Galaxy J1 4G features a 4.3-inch (480x800 pixels) WVGA TFT display and is powered by an unspecified quad-core 1.2GHz processor, unlike the Samsung Galaxy J1, which is backed by a dual-core processor. The Galaxy J1 4G comes with 768MB of RAM; 4GB of inbuilt storage, further expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB); a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash; a secondary 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and an 1850mAh battery.

On the connectivity front, the Samsung Galaxy J1 4G offers 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Micro-USB, NFC, GLONASS, A-GPS, and Bluetooth options. It measures 129x68.2x8.9mm; weighs 122 grams, and will be available in Blue, Black and White colours.
