Samsung has expanded its 4G handsets portfolio for the Indian market with the launch of three new Galaxy smartphones - Galaxy Core Prime 4G, Galaxy Grand Prime 4G, and Galaxy J1 4G.

All these smartphones will be hitting Indian market shelves starting second week of March and will be available starting Rs. 9,990 onwards. The exact price of each model will be revealed closer to launch.

The Samsung Galaxy Core Prime 4G, Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime 4G, and Samsung Galaxy J1 4G support TDD-LTE (2300) 4G networks used in India. The 3G-variants of the smartphones are already available in the Indian market. The three newly announced 4G phones will head to other Asian markets as well, the company announced at the annual Samsung Forum event in Bangkok, Thailand on Monday.

The Samsung Galaxy Core Prime 4G (pictured above), much like its 3G variant, runs Android 4.4 KitKat and features dual-SIM support, a 4.5-inch WVGA (480x800 pixels) PLS (plane-to-line switching) TFT LCD display, and a 1.2GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. It comes with 8GB of inbuilt storage, and supports expandable storage via microSD card (up to 64GB).

The Galaxy Core Prime 4G sports a 5-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash, and a 2-megapixel front camera. There is a 2000mAh battery on board. Apart from 4G LTE support, the smartphone includes Wi-Fi b/g/n, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, GLONASS, NFC, and 3G. The Galaxy Core Prime includes an accelerometer and proximity sensor.
