Samsung seems to be getting ready to launch a 'selfie-focused' smartphone in the Galaxy Grand series, reportedly called Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime. The alleged smartphone has been tipped to debut in October, along with purported specifications and live images. Meanwhile the previously rumoured metal-clad SM-A500 in the upcoming A Series has been tipped to include the new TouchWiz UI from the recently launched Galaxy Note 4.

As tipped by two Vietnamese websites (via GSMArena), the front-facing camera on the alleged Galaxy Grand Prime will be a 5-megapixel offering, which is an improvement over the Galaxy Grand 2 and Galaxy Grand with their 1.9-meagpixel and 2-megapixel offerings, although the 8-megapixel rear camera is claimed to remain the same. It is expected to be priced at $236 (roughly Rs. 14,400).

Other purported specifications tipped for the alleged Galaxy Grand Prime include a 5-inch qHD (540x960 pixels) display; 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 SoC; 1GB of RAM; 8GB Internal storage with microSD (up to 64GB); 144x72x8.6mm dimensions; 2600mAh battery, and Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

On the other hand, Samsung's rumoured to launch the metal-clad SM-A500 first in the alleged new A series, with the other two - SM-A300 and SM-A700 - set to follow later. A Sammobile report on Tuesday suggests that Samsung "is currently making some changes to both the hardware and software" of SM-A500 and it might support the latest TouchWiz UI from Galaxy Note 4 and a 13-megapixel camera. Earlier, Sammobile had tipped it to include a 8-megapixel rear camera.

The report also tips the alleged SM-A500 to feature a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) Super AMOLED display; a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor; 5-megapixel front camera; 16GB of inbuilt storage, and a 2330mAh battery. The report also claimed that the SM-A500 will have a hybrid card slot, which will accommodate both a microSD card and a Nano-SIM card. Additionally, the smartphone was reported to come with a fingerprint and heart rate sensors, but not be dust or water-resistant. However, it is said to feature a version of the Ultra Power Saving Mode seen on the Galaxy S5 (Review | Pictures).
