Dyson Airwrap will be available in January

Expanding its personal care portfolio, Dyson has now launched its Airwrap styler in India. The company claims that the new hair styler curls, smoothens, and achieves natural waves without causing damage to the hair. Instead of using just heat like most conventional styling curlers out there, the Dyson Airwrap uses jets of air to style hair. The device comes equipped with intelligent heat management controls and is powered by a miniature V9 motor that weighs only 49 grams, but is capable of throwing air at 110,000RPM speeds with 3,000pa pressure.

The Dyson Airwrap will be made available in two bundles catering to different needs. The Dyson Airwrap Volume + Shape bundle will come with a pre-styling dryer, two 30mm barrels, one soft brush, and one round brush. The Dyson Airwrap Smooth + Control bundle will come with a pre-styling dryer, two 30mm barrels, two 40mm barrels, and a firm brush for better smoothening. Both these bundles are priced at Rs. 34,900 and will be available at Dyson Demo stores, the company website, and through online partners - Nykaa and Amazon. The Dyson Airwrap will go on sale in India from January next year.

The Dyson Airwrap comes with an intelligent heat control system that measures the temperature up to 40 times a second to ensure hair does not become exposed to extreme heat. Steve Williamson - Advanced Design Engineer, Personal Care, Dyson, told Gadgets 360," One of the key things we aimed at with Airwrap was to minimise hair damage. We only use air to wrap the hair around the barrel, and to style it as well, unlike other products that require clamping and twisting the product itself. The heat control system prevents it from going above 150 degrees averting irreversible damage."

The Airwrap essentially offers styling of hair without the big worry of heat damage or static. It comes with buttons to increase and decrease the heat, and an option for cool airflow as well. The company claims that a cool shot after styling with heat helps the hydrogen cells in the hair to settle down, enabling longer duration of styled hair.

The packaging, in true Dyson style, is quite attractive, and there are several attachments that come in the bundles you choose. The barrels for curling come in two sizes - 30mm and 40mm, a firm and a soft smoothening brush have also been introduced depending upon the hair. There's also a round voluminising brush attachment, and a pre-styling dryer as well.

One of the key features of Airwrap, highlighted by Williamson as well, is its ability to wrap the hair around its barrels, without the need for the user to manually twist it in any direction. This helps novice users get professional curls without heading to a salon. Once the Airwrap is turned on, and bought close to the hair, it automatically wraps it around its barrels for styling.

The Dyson Airwrap joins the Dyson Supersonic in the company's expanding hair care portfolio. In July, Dyson also launched the V10 Vacuum Cleaner, and the Pure Cool Air Purifier in the country.
