MapMyIndia announces CarPad 5, an Android-powered navigation device

A year after launching their first Android-based navigation device CarPad, MapMyIndia is back with its successor. Dubbed as CarPad 5, the device is smaller than the original CarPad, which sports a 7-inch display. It has been priced at Rs. 19,999 and is now available on the company's website.

Featuring 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, CarPad 5 comes with a 1GHz processor, 5-inch 800x480p display and Android 2.3.4. This multi-functional device can also make calls and is pre-loaded with the company's Aura navigation interface with real time traffic and voice-guided directions.

"After the success of MapmyIndia CarPad, which endorses our view that that there is a strong demand for in-car productivity gadgets, we present the next-generation CarPad 5 to Indian consumers. MapmyIndia has always strived towards making car travel convenient, comfortable and productive. The CarPad 5 is one of the many in-car productivity gadgets we plan to launch in the near future," said Rakesh Verma, Managing Director, MapmyIndia.

The CarPad 5 also comes bundled with a 4GB microSD card, CarPad windshield mount and a car charger.
