Acer has been nurturing ambitious dreams for its tablet division. The Taiwanese maker has set a target of shipping 10 million units within this year. However, it seems that the tablets running on Windows RT do not gel with the company's plan.

As per a new report by CiteWorld, Acer's President Jim Wong said in an interview that according to him there is no value in launching tablets based on the current version of Windows RT. Wong shared these views in an interview that took place on the side-lines of the New York event that took place on Friday.

"To be honest, there's no value doing the current version of RT", Wong said. Acer had planned to launch Windows RT tablet in the second quarter of 2013, but for now the company seems to have put the plan on back-burner.

At the same event, Acer also launched its much talked about 7.9-inch Iconia A1 tablet. Acer Iconia A1 features a 7.9-inch display with a 1024X768 resolution. The tablet is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core MediaTek processor along with 1GB of RAM. Acer Iconia A1 will offer an option of either 8GB internal storage or 16GB. For camera, there is a 5-megapixel rear facing camera and a VGA one in the front. The rear camera is also capable of recording 1080pixel full-HD videos. The tablet is powered by a 3,250mAh battery and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) out of the box.

This tablet is dubbed Acer W3-810 and was accidentally listed by Amazon.com on Friday for $379.99 (Rs. 20,500) but removed soon after. As per the Amazon listing, Acer W3-810 is expected to come with the 1.8GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2760 processor along with 2GB of RAM. The tablet will offer 32GB internal storage. For camera, there is a 2-megapixel rear and front camera.
