Google and HTC launched the first Nexus smartphone dubbed Nexus One in 2010, and since then, have not teamed up for any device.

However, a new report emerging from Taiwan claims that Google and HTC might again be seen launching a device, and this time it could be a 10-inch Nexus tablet, thought to be named Nexus 10.

DigiTimes, in a report citing industry sources, claims that HTC will jointly launch the next-generation of Nexus 10 tablet with Google, though the report does not mention a specific release time. There is also no word on the innards of the Nexus 10 tablet, as of now.

HTC had launched two tablets: a 7-inch Flyer tablet in 2011, and a 10-inch Jetstream tablet in the same year; however both the tablets fared poorly due to poor pricing and a lack of apps, informs the report.

The report further reveals that HTC declined Google's proposal to launch the Nexus 7 tablet in 2012, and the Mountain View giant then teamed up with Asus to launch the relatively successful device.

Contradicting the current report, it was earlier said that the Nexus 10 successor would be launched by Samsung and the alleged device's specifications were tipped. As per the leaked specifications, the alleged Nexus 10 successor tablet would come with a 10-inch display with a resolution of 2560x1600 (WQXGA) pixels; 3GB of RAM; 16GB and 32GB inbuilt storage; 5-megapixel rear camera and a 3-megapixel front-facing camera. Interestingly, the Nexus 10 was said to run Android's next iteration dubbed Android 4.5; this was the first time since Android KitKat's release that we have heard of the next Android version.

It's worth mentioning that Google launched the first Nexus 10 tablet in October 2012.

Earlier on Monday, a report suggested that HTC, due to growing losses, plans to expand its range of cheaper smartphones.

A recent report has also indicated that Google might launch a new Nexus tablet (thought to be dubbed Nexus 8) with an 8-inch display by mid-2014.
