The 10-inch Windows RT tablet from Nokia likely to debut at the MWC next year, might come with an additional detachable keyboard just like Microsoft's Surface tablet, The Verge reports.

Citing sources familiar with Nokia's plans, the tech blog mentions that the company plans to launch a special cover for the tablet with an integrated battery that can power the tablet. This battery equipped cover will have two additional USB ports and feature a kickstand as well.

The tablet itself is expected to feature a 10-hour battery life, two USB ports and HDMI connectivity as well. The Verge has also learned that the Finnish manufacturer is working on a mechanism to enhance the charging speed of the device that reaches 50 percent in a short period of time.

The news of work resuming on the tablet was first reported by Digitimes a few days ago. It stated that the company originally planned to develop a 10-inch Windows RT tablet equipped with Qualcomm's S4 processor in first-quarter 2012. Further, the company is planning only a small batch of 200,000 units to be shipped to get a sense of the Windows 8 market. This has been reinstated by The Verge's sources.

The existence of the tablet has been known fro quite sometime now. Back in March, when asked about Nokia's tablet plans, design chief Marko Ahtisaari had said they were "working on it".

Again in September, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop hinted at the possible opportunity for Nokia's tablet plans and something they are "looking at very closely" without mentioning any specific details.

Elop further stated that the timing for the new tablet launch couldn't have been more perfect, courtesy its tie-up with Microsoft and the then impending launch of Windows 8, which is optimised for touch-devices.
