One Laptop per Child (OLPC), a project supported by One Laptop per Child Association (OLPCA) and OLPC Foundation (OLPCF), has introduced a couple of tablets for children at CES 2014.

The tablets, OLPC XO-2 and XO-10, have almost the similar hardware specifications with some tweaks in the operating systems.

Announced on Tuesday, OLPC's XO-2 tablet costs $149 (roughly Rs. 9,200) with its availability dates kept undisclosed by the firm. The tablet operates on the much popular Android platform. However, the OS version and the processor installed in the device is not mentioned. XO-2 features a 7-inch, 1200x600 pixel LCD touchscreen display and 1GB of RAM to perform multiple tasks together. The device comes with an 8GB internal flash storage along with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. The tablet is also said to include a GPS feature and offer a battery life of seven hours in one single charge.

The XO-10 tablet is understood to set back a customer by $199 (roughly Rs. 12,300) but the date as to when this tablet will hit the shelves, is not mentioned. The tablet runs on what is being reported by Engadget as a heavily modified version of Android 4.4 Kitkat OS, paired with a quad-core processor and 1GB RAM. OLPC XO-10 sports a 10.1-inch 1200 x 600 LCD capacitive touch display along with the in-built storage size same as that in XO-2 tablet. With similar connectivity options as XO-2, the tablet offers more than 12 hours of battery life on single charge.
