Just last week, details of the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 were leaked online. But now, on the occasion of its 20th birthday, the company has officially confirmed the release of its Windows 8-based tablet, which is expected at the end of October.

In an interview to ABC News, revealing details about the tablet, Dilip Bhatia, Vice President and General Manager of the ThinkPad business unit said, "This is the tablet everyone's been waiting for". The exact date is still uncertain but considering that Microsoft is unveiling its new operating system, Windows 8 on October 26 alongside its Surface tablet, Lenovo will not stay behind. The company also hasn't put a price on the tablet yet.

The ThinkPad Tablet 2 will replace the current ThinkPad tablet that runs on Android. Some of the key specs of this tablet include a 10.1-inch, 1366x768 IPS display, 8MP and 2MP cameras, a dual-core Intel Clover Trail processor hosting 2GB RAM with 64GB storage and a 10-hour battery. The tablet weighs under 600gms.

Apart from this, the 9.8mm thick tablet also boasts NFC capabilities and will feature a fingerprint reader as well as a stylus that finds room within the tablet. Users can also opt for an optional keyboard at the time of sale.
