Airtel does not seem to be putting its foot off the pedal in its war against Jio anytime soon. A day after the country’s largest telecom operator announced an initiative under which customers can get an Android smartphone at effective price of Rs. 1,399 for first-time 4G users, it has launched a plan that targets high-end consumers. Airtel has a new myPlan Infinity postpaid plan that provides customers with 50GB of bundled data and unlimited calls. Aimed at consumers with high data consumption, the Airtel plan also offers free calls on roaming.

The new Airtel plan is available for both new and existing users, and comes with the company’s data rollover promise under which it will carry forward unused data to the next billing cycle. Apart from this, the company will be providing its Airtel Secure service for free for a period of six months with plan, under which the operator will get the phone repaired from an authorised service centre in cases of liquid and accidental damage.

The company launched a Rs. 999 pack for its prepaid customers in September this year, with 112GB of data doled out at 4GB per day and ‘unlimited’ calls. The difference in data is substantial, but the postpaid users will not have any daily restrictions on data consumption with the plan. Once the 50GB limit is exhausted, data access will be charged at 50p per MB.

Jio also has a Rs. 999 postpaid plan that provides 90GB of data without any limits on daily data consumption. The validity of this plan is 2 months, and it comes with free SMSes, roaming, Jio apps subscription and unlimited calls across the country.
