We all face a serious dilemma when it comes to mobile service packs. We need to browse through several plans to get the talk time, mobile data, and text message plan that actually matches our requirements - ensuring we don't run out when we need it, or waste unused amounts. With the aim to make things less complicated on this front, Vodafone has introduced its combined services plan called Vodafone Flex.

Flex is essentially a unit, a fixed amount of which is provided to you once you choose a Vodafone Flex plan. You are essentially buying Flex currency with your money. Now, 1 Flex equals 1MB of data (4G/ 3G/ 2G) or 1 SMS or 1 minute of incoming call on roaming. Some services cost more than 1 Flex, such as outgoing local/ STD calls, as well as outgoing call on roaming, 1 minute of each costs 2 Flex. As you use the various services, the units of Flex will be accordingly deducted from your account.

You get the flexibility to choose what amount of Flex you want to utilise on mobile data, what amount on text messages, and what amount on calls.

With Flex plans, Vodafone users will not have to individually choose the plans and will be provided several services in one pack. Another added benefit is that users will not have to remember the validity periods for the individual service packs as with Flex plans, the validity for all three services will be for 28 days.

"With Vodafone Flex, we aim to revolutionise the prepaid world by addressing the needs of the customers. 90 percent of customers prefer to use prepaid and Vodafone Flex has been specially designed with the singular objective of making the user experience of the hundreds of million prepaid customers simpler, richer, and more enjoyable. It gives prepaid customers total control with the flexibility to use their Flex as per their individual choice and usage style - more for voice or more for data - offering greater value for money," Vodafone India's Commercial Director Sandeep Kataria said about the launch.

The company has currently provided the denominations for Delhi circle only. As per the company's price chart, you will get 325 units of Flex for Rs. 118, 700 units of Flex for Rs. 204, 1,200 units of Flex for Rs. 304, and 1,750 units of Flex for Rs. 395.

You also get the option to top-up your plan using micro-Flex recharge that provides you 105 units of Flex for Rs. 42 or 138 units of Flex for Rs. 53.

Commenting about the competition from Reliance Jio at company's launch event, Kataria said "India has a very large spectrum of people, about 95 percent, who don't have a 4G phone." He further said that Vodafone Flex is meant for a wider audience. "We are not new entrants. We have to look after not 5 million or 10 million subscribers; we have to look after 200 million subscribers," he said.
