Google's next Android Wear update will reportedly include Wi-Fi support, gesture controls, and a tweaked UI for easy access to apps and contacts.

According to a report by The Verge report on Tuesday, a source familiar with Android Wear's future plans said that the next software update will include a major enhancement to support 'Wi-Fi turn on' for the Android Wear devices, and at least two additional smaller updates.

Most Android Wear smartwatches packs Snapdragon SoCs that already have a Wi-Fi module, which is said to get activated with simple software update.

"Users will be able to flick their wrist to scroll through notifications and Google Now cards, rather than needing to use their other hand to swipe on the screen," notes Verge. Additionally, for the easier access of applications and contacts, Google is said to bring some UI design tweaks.

Earlier this month, rumours came out suggesting an Android Wear app for iOS in development. The report claimed that Google will announce Android Wear support for iPhone and iPad devices at Google I/O 2015, scheduled for late May. Further ahead, it was also suggested that Mountain View giant might delay the announcement depending on the sales of the Apple Watch.
