The Google Play update inspired by the company's recently unveiled Material Design philosophy makeover is rolling-out starting Wednesday, and will gradually become available globally.

The search engine giant teased the arrival of the new Google Play (version 4.9.13) on Twitter on Wednesday, publishing images of the new look and revealing that the update will be available "in the coming days." The tweet said, "Our latest update is rolling out right now! We're excited to share a sneak peek of what you'll get in the coming days."

Notably, the new update to the Google Play has an image-centric layout, and also introduces elements of the company's much-touted Material Design philosophy. The design theme of the Play store is based on Google's recently unveiled design guidelines called 'Quantum Paper', and internally codenamed as Material Design, which were showcased at the I/O developers' conference. We had seen the new design with the updated Google+, Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides apps.

Kirill Grouchnikov, a user interface engineer on the Android project at Google, also shared screenshots from the upcoming Google Play update on his Google+ page.

Android Police notes that the new Google Play update brings the Material Design layout for app listings and content pages.

Some of the changes noted by the publication include redesigned animations; revamped layout with focus on Google+ (+1s); full-screen app descriptions, and how video trailers for apps now appear at the top of every listing, replacing the image gallery. Unfortunately, the official changelog for the latest Google Play (version 4.9.13) is not available.

Earlier this month, ahead of the official release, the makeover of the Play Store was leaked in screenshots which showed the Material Design-inspired layout of the store for Android smartphones and tablets.
