Google on Wednesday started updating the Google aka Google Search app to version 4.1, bringing the all new 'Now cards' settings page and improved 'Ok Google' Detection settings.

The Google app update (version 4.1.21.1657903) seems to be rolling out in phases as always, so this should reach Google Play India sometime later this week or early next week. As yet Google Play in India lists the version 4.0.29.1615250 of the Google app.

According to Android Police, the latest Google app has the Now cards settings in a single new preferences pane. Users can access the new Now cards settings page from the navigation menu on the left side. From there, they will see 'Now cards' option which allows users to do things like Show cards (on/ off toggle), Manage card history, Delete card preferences , Show notifications for card updates, Ringtone and Vibrate options for Urgent updates (see above).

The tweaked 'Ok Google' Detection settings has changed the "When locked" option to "Personal results," making users aware that it will allow personal results and actions when the phone is securely locked.

The update also adds support for nine new Indian languages, namely - Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, and Oriya.

Google has slightly revamped the stocks and weather Google Now cards along with the new look for voice typing in favour of the new Material Design. Lastly, there are some appearance refinements like the result categories icons at the bottom of a Google Search have got a dark colour to them.

If impatient for the new Google v.4.1 app to roll out to your region, you can download and sideload the Google-signed apk via Android Police.
