  • Opera brought the feature to Android and desktop last month.
  • It's available on Opera Mini for iOS and Windows Phone as well.
  • Opera claims speed and data improvements with the feature enabled.

Opera on Thursday announced its ad-blocking tool is now available on all mobile platforms, with the addition to Opera Mini for iOS and Windows Phone, and Opera for Android. To recall, Opera had last month launched its native ad-blocker on Opera Mini for Android and Opera for computers.

"Users are demanding ad blockers because of the better browsing experience it offers," says Nuno Sitima, SVP Mobile Browsers, Opera. "Opera users can speed up their mobile surfing, skip extra data charges and stretch their internet packages even further by blocking in the browser intrusive and data-wasting ads and heavy tracking."

Opera claims that with the ad-blocker and its compression feature enabled, Opera for Android is 14 percent faster than Chrome to load a webpage on average. The average amount of data Opera for Android downloaded per webpage with ad-blocking turned on was 229KB, which is supposedly 84 percent less than Chrome.

The company in an emailed statement also explained how to turn on the ad-blocking featuring across its mobile browsers. On Opera for Android, users need to tap on the O menu, then Settings > Data savings > Block ads. One Opera Mini for iOS, tap on the O menu, the go to Data Savings Summary > Opera Turbo > Block ads. On Opera Mini for Windows Phone, tap the O menu, then Settings > Block ads.
