Fresh after announcing Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Ubisoft has said it is developing games that would work on virtual reality (VR) devices. While CEO Yves Guillemot did not comment on which franchises will make the jump to VR, he told investors that Ubisoft is "very bullish about the potential", for him the possibility of VR bringing more people into gaming with immersive gameplay is immense.

"We are very bullish about the potential. We think it is going to bring more players to the universe of video games, and we are going to come with our brands. We will have a few titles in the first year and we will have regular games coming following that," Guillemot said.

His comments contradict those of Ubisoft Vice President of Creative Lionel Raynaud made during GDC in 2014.

"VR would need to sell at least 1 million units to be viable for development," Raynaud said during a roundtable interview, according to GameSpot. The company later stated that the number was not meant to be taken literally.

The VR space is heating up what with Sony earlier announcing that its VR headset, Project Morpheus, would go on sale in the first half of 2016. Oculus VR plans to release its consumer version of the headset between January and March 2016 as well. Also, Microsoft and Valve are working on their own VR headsets but have no release dates yet.

As for Assassin's Creed Syndicate, the newly announced instalment to the long-running open world series will be made available on October 23 for the PS4 and Xbox One, and sometime in the autumn for the PC.
