Amazon.in, Amazon's Indian online store has added four new categories, namely: toys & games, baby products, personal care appliances, and health care devices.

The company says it also intends to launch more new categories to its India store, including home and kitchen products in the coming weeks ahead of Diwali.

Amazon claims that its toys & games section offers the largest online selection of toys in India, with over 8,500 products from over 80 leading brands including Lego, Funskool, Hotwheels, Barbie, V-Tech, Ravensburger, Mellissa & Doug, Silverlit, and Maisto. It adds that the baby products category features a selection of over 3,000 products including diapers & nappies, health & baby care, strollers, prams & car seats and nursing & feeding products from over 50 brands including Pampers, Huggies, Johnson & Johnson, Medela, Nuby, Himalaya, Pigeon, Hauck and Chicco.

Following the addition of these product categories, Amazon.in now competes on a more even footing with Indian ecommerce sites like Flipkart, HomeShop 18 and Indiatimes.

In its personal care appliances and health care categories, Amazon.in claims to offer more than 1,100  products from over 60 leading brands, including Philips, Panasonic, Omron, Accu-chek, Remington, Braun, J&J, and One Touch.

Just like other Amazon.in product sections, the new categories feature detailed product descriptions, options to shortlist products by features, customer reviews from Amazon.com, and personalised recommendations for products.

Amazon will offer these products from retailers like Croma, Vijay sales,  Mahindra Retail, Vividha, Toygully, Kidzoba, Redlily, Mom & Me (Mahindra Retail), Ofororange and Toyworld among others, using Fulfillment by Amazon, offering customers cash on delivery, free returns pickup, an delivery tracking to the doorstep.

Amazon.in now boasts of a large selection of products across eleven categories including over 9 million books, more than 70,000 products from hundreds of brands, and over 1.7 million ebooks, from 500 plus retailers, the company informed.

Commenting on the launch, Amit Agarwal, Vice President and Country Manager, Amazon India, said, "We are excited to launch four new stores today and expand selection on Amazon.in in time for the festive season. We look forward to delighting customers with broad selection, low prices, great convenience, and reliably delivery."
