Addressing the Team Work 2015 event, Niemi said that "We do have a new Pixel coming out and it will be coming out soon. We will be selling it but I just have to set your expectations: this is a development platform. This is really a proof of concept. We don't make very many of these - we really don't. And [...] our developers and our Googlers consume 85 percent of what we produce. But yes, we do have a new Pixel coming out."
The company had even put up a YouTube video of the same, which was removed later.
To remind you, the original Chromebook Pixel - Google's first high-end laptop for the Chrome OS - was launched in February 2013 starting at $1,299 (roughly Rs. 79,000). The Chromebook Pixel features a 12.85-inch touch screen (2560x1700 pixels) display with 239ppi pixel density, Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB of RAM, and the choice of a 32GB or 64GB SSD.
About the anticipated Chromebook Pixel 2, a report from Omg!chrome! notes that it has a 12.85-inch screen and Google might retain the same pixel resolution for the device as the first generation Chromebook Pixel. The alleged device was also spotted earlier this month, and then some board references had suggested the machine to have built-in fans, the new reversible 'Type-C' USB 3.1 ports, and Intel Core M Y-Series CPUs.
