If the week before was about the iPad 3, last week's biggest story was the Mountain Lion preview. In a surprise move, Apple gave the world first glimpse of the next version of Mac OS X. In case you've been living under a rock, this would be a good time to checkout 10 new features in Mountain Lion. The announcement helped Apple take some attention of the slew of criticism it had been receiving over the Address Book controversy.

India loves dual-SIM phones and the reaction to Samsung releasing 5 new dual-SIM phones just underlines that. With the market short of quality options in the dual-SIM smartphone sphere, we expect the 3 new dual-SIM Android smartphones to do well. Feature phone fans should check out the 2 new feature phones. It was not the only announcement Samsung made this week, with the news that the Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) with ICS is on the way.

The iPad may be a clear winner as far as tablets are concered, but the race for the second spot is heating up. Amazon overtook Samsung as the 2nd largest tablet vendor by selling nearly 3.9 million Kindle Fire tablets in Q4 2011. While on the topic of tablets,the iPad 3 looks set to be announced on March 3. One place the iPad 3 is not expected to be greeted with much love is China, where authorities have started seizing iPads over a trademark dispute. It was a busy week for hackers, with the Microsoft India online store and the CIA website coming under attack. Closer home central as well as state governments were targeted by hackers.

Talking about social networks, Twitter officially rolled out 'new' Twitter interface to all users even as it looks set to unveil an advertising system of its own. Facebook had a low-key week but managed to squeeze in two tie-ups. Angry Birds finally came to Facebook while Indian audience can look forward to more desi content on Facebook, with a tie up with Saavn on the cards. And finally, Sony Ericsson is now Sony Mobile Communications with Sony completing the buyout of Ericsson's stake while Google moved a step closer to sealing the deal for Motorola's mobile business, with the regulators in EU and US giving the deal a green signal.
