  • HTC is said to be working on Marlin and Sailfish codenamed Nexus devices.
  • The rumoured HTC 'Sailfish' Nexus is said to feature a 5-inch display.
  • The HTC Nexus is likely to pack a 2770mAh battery.

HTC is rumoured to be working on two Nexus devices this year in collaboration with Google. An earlier report said that Google's parent company, Alphabet, had signed a three-year contract with HTC to make Nexus devices. Back in April, a leak suggested HTC was working on two Nexus devices codenamed M1 and S1, the short forms for codenames 'Marlin' and 'Sailfish', to launch this year. Now, a new leak has surfaced tipping the innards of the smaller of the two rumoured HTC-made Nexus devices.

Android Police has posted purported specification details of the alleged HTC 'Sailfish' Nexus smartphone claiming the handset will feature a 5-inch full-HD display with 440ppi pixel density; a quad-core 64-bit quad-core processor; 4GB of RAM; 32GB storage; 12-megapixel rear camera; 8-megapixel front camera, and a 2770mAh battery. The handset is also expected to sport rear-mounted fingerprint scanner along with the USB Type-C port and bottom speaker. The handset is said to pack a headphone jack and come with Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity.

The report speculates that Nexus devices starting this year may pack 32GB inbuilt storage as base storage value.

Of course, as with all rumours and leaks, we advise readers to take the above information about the rumoured HTC Nexus device with a pinch of salt, as HTC or Google have yet to make any announcements about the new Nexus device and the credibility of the sources cannot be independently verified.

An earlier report had suggested that HTC may add the 3D Touch like display feature in its rumoured Nexus smartphones. If true, the new Nexus smartphones will most likely be running Android N, which will be useless without the pressure-sensitive display implementation.
