Huawei and its sub-brand Honor have announced an Android Oreo update on a few more smartphones by porting its EMUI 8.0 ROM. The Chinese company made the announcement late last month, on its Weibo page, announcing the release of Android 8.0 Oreo-backed EMUI 8.0 for its various models. Earlier in January, Huawei and Honor had announced lists of smartphones that would get Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0. The company is now keeping its promise and making the latest update available to seven smartphones.

As seen on the Huawei Weibo post and Honor site, handsets that will get Android Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 update include Huawei Mate 8, Huawei P9, Huawei P9 Plus, Honor 8, Honor V8, Honor Note 8, and Honor Play 6X. The list now includes the Honor 8, though the smartphone is not compatible with the new EMUI version due to some "hardware and software limitations", as per Honor's official confirmation that had surfaced earlier this year. However, the company had later confirmed that the new functions of EMUI 8.0 would be ported to Honor 8 to offer its users some benefits from the latest user experience upgrades.

The Android Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 update is a stable one, and it had started rolling out on July 9 and should reach all the above-mentioned handsets by month-end. A total of 20 Huawei and Honor handsets are said to have been updated to Android Oreo, such as Huawei P10, P10 Plus, Honor 9, Honor V9, Honor 8 Youth edition, Honor 7X, Huawei Nova, Huawei Nova 2, and Huawei Nova 2 Plus.

Notably, you can download the update using the membership app available on your Huawei smartphone. If you haven't received the update yet, keep an eye out on the Huawei Firmware Finder app.
