LG unveiled the Optimus G barely a couple of months back, and the rumour mill is already going into overdrive over its purported successor, the LG Optimus G2.

GSM Arena quotes reports in the Korean media to say that the LG Optimus G2 will feature a quad-core 2.0/2.5GHz Krait processor, at least 2GB of RAM, full-HD display and camera that features a sensor that's 13-megapixel or higher. The device will reportedly run on Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, which is expected to be out by the time Optimus G2 makes its way to the market in Q3 2013.

The reports are in consistent with earlier rumours of Samsung and LG working on smartphones with full-HD displays. It's only logical that LG's next flagship smartphone would feature a full-HD display, given we've already seen HTC release a 1080p display smartphone and Samsung's next flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S IV, is rumoured to feature a full-HD display as well. We've also seen reports on Lenovo working a dual-SIM smartphone with full-HD display.

LG launched the Optimus G in September this year. The LG Optimus G comes with a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, LTE networking, a 4.7-inch 1280x768 (320ppi) display and 2GB of RAM. The phone sports a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front shooter. It comes with 32GB of built-in flash storage, but no microSD card slot. The Android 4.0 sporting smartphone also comes with NFC.

LG Optimus G was lauded for its innovation in battery and display technologies. LG mobiles partnered with LG Chem to build a battery with a lifespan of 800 cycles, compared to 500 cycles span for a typical smartphone battery. Similarly, LG display helped LG Electronics in developing the True HD IPS+ display, which is capable of generating 470 nits of brightness while consuming 70 percent less power while displaying a white background. The G2 Touch Hybrid display, developed in partnership with LG Innotek, eliminates the gap between the glass and the LCD panel, thus, reducing the thickness of the touchscreen panel by 30 percent.
