Motorola, to cash in the popularity of its Moto E budget smartphone, has now added the Moto E to its Bootloader Unlock program. With this, the Moto E now officially gets bootloader unlocking support from the company, along with recently launched Moto G and Moto X.

According to the list of devices that are part of Motorola's Bootloader Unlock program, the Moto E's Canada, Europe, Latin America and US retail variants are currently added. Unfortunately, the company has not revealed any plans for adding more Moto E variants (available in other regions, including India), as of now.

The official bootloader unlock support for Moto E will allow third-party developers to customize the device, and users to load third-party firmware and ROMs legally.

For those unaware, Motorola offers a dedicated webpage that can guide the user through the unlocking process after agreeing to the company's terms.

In addition, Android OS has noted that root access and unofficial TWRP recovery guides for the Moto E are now available at the XDA Developers Forum.

Earlier the Moto E, with its impressive pricing, created a buzz in the Indian market and is now one of the first smartphones in the sub-Rs. 10,000 category to run Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box. The handset, much like the Moto G and Moto X, is available exclusively via online retailer Flipkart.

Motorola Moto E comes with a 4.3-inch display with a qHD (540x960 pixels) resolution, and 256ppi pixel density. Motorola is also touting the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 screen of the phone, along with its 'water-nano coating' which provides a measure of water resistance. It is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor along with Adreno 302 GPU alongside 1GB of RAM. The Moto E is a dual-SIM phone that supports Micro-SIM cards and an 'intelligent calling feature.' It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat.
