Motorola has announced the list of Moto devices that will be receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.

The company has confirmed that the Moto G (Gen 2), Moto G (Gen 2) LTE, Moto X (Gen 2), Moto X Pure Edition, Moto G (3rd Gen), Moto Maxx, Moto Turbo, Droid Turbo, Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen), Moto X Style, Moto X Play, and Google Nexus 6 will be receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. The Lenovo-owned company however has not announced a release date for Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for its devices.

To be noted, is that this may not be the final list of devices due to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade, as the company's blog post mentioned, "Right now we have plans to upgrade the following Motorola devices. Things may change, so please refer to our software upgrade page for the latest, and specifics by country."

The Motorola Software support page for the Indian market confirms that the Moto G (Gen 2), Moto G (3rd Gen), Moto X (Gen 2), Moto Turbo, Moto X Play, and yet-to-be-launched Moto X Style will be receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

You may have noticed that neither generation of the affordable Moto E has been included, nor the first-generation Moto G and Moto X. And while these two smartphones, may be considered too old to update at this point, the Moto E (Gen 2) is only a few months old.

Motorola has also listed changes that Moto device owners will see after updating to the new Android OS version. Some changes to Moto enhancements include removal of Moto Assist feature as part of upgrade to Android M. The company explains that the latest OS includes an option for 'Do Not Disturb' under the 'Sound and notification' settings that performs similar function what Moto Assist does.

The Motorola Migrate feature, which allowed transferring photos, videos, SIM contacts and even call and text history from an old Android device to a Moto device, is also being retired. "Android M also enhances support for backing up user data. These improvements duplicate most of what Motorola Migrate provides," notes Bjorn Kilburn, VP, Software Product Management, in the blog post.

The company will also retire the Google Chrome extension found in Motorola Connect considering a lot of similar services now exist. Kilburn adds that all these features will "no longer be preloaded going forward."

Soon after Google announced new Nexus devices alongside the latest and final build of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow last week, select handset OEMs have started coming out with their list of devices likely to receive the new OS update. HTC detailed Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for its devices last week.
