Nokia X2 With 1GB of RAM Purportedly Spotted on AnTuTu Benchmark

Earlier this week, we heard that Microsoft will add a home button to the next-generation of X-series Android smartphones. Now, the alleged Nokia X2 has been benchmarked, indicating some of the specifications of the yet-to-be-announced device.

My Nokia Blog citing a Chinese Baidu discussion has claimed that the successor to the Nokia X has been spotted on an AnTuTu benchmark listing. The site claims that the alleged Nokia X2 will come with 1GB of RAM, which if comes out to be true, will be an upgrade from the 512MB of RAM found on the Nokia X (and the 768MB of RAM on the Nokia X+).

The alleged benchmark listing also tips 4GB of inbuilt storage and a Qualcomm MSM8210 chip powering the device, which apparently is the same found on the recently launched popular Moto E smartphone. The benchmark listing shows that the alleged Nokia X2 scores 11827 on AnTuTu.

We remind readers however, that nothing is official yet, and that all such reports must be taken with a pinch of salt.

Nokia created a lot of buzz with its first smartphones based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). The Nokia X series smartphones can run Android apps, and are powered by Microsoft and Nokia services.

While many tech pundits were expecting that Microsoft will be closing down the Nokia Normandy project, the team behind the Nokia X smartphones, after the Finnish giant completed the sale of mobile business to the Redmond giant. However, the current rumour mill hints that this might not happen.

For those unaware, the current Nokia X smartphone is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), and is powered by Microsoft and Nokia services. The highlight of the Nokia X is the highly customised version of Android, with Metro-inspired UI and access to Nokia's own app store. While there's no access to Google Play, users can side-load Android apps from any third-party source. Nokia has used the AOSP version corresponding to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as the baseline for its operating system.
