Samsung Mobile has managed to surprise all with the success of its Galaxy Note series of smartphones. The company claims that it had shipped more than five million units of its Samsung Galaxy Note II phablet within two months of its launch.

Little wonder then that just six months after the launch of Samsung Galaxy Note II, we have already started hearing rumours regarding its successor. As per a news report in The Korea Times, Samsung Galaxy Note III will sport a 6.3-inch screen and will perhaps come with recently announced Exynos 5 Octa processor. The report does not mention any other details of the next generation galaxy note device.

This is in line with an earlier report from the same publication that had indicated the same display size, so perhaps they are onto something with this.

Samsung Galaxy Note II features a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD display and is powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM. In the recent past, there have been plenty of new products being launched in the phablet space including the Huawei Ascend Mate, which sports a 6.1-inch IPS+ LCD capacitive touchscreen.

The Samsung Exynos 5 Octa processor was recently unveiled by the company at the CES 2013. It is an eight-core SoC that is expected to power tablets and high-end smartphones. Samsung's next flagship device, the Galaxy S IV, is widely expected to sport the same processor.

Samsung had unveiled its first phablet device, Galaxy Note at the IFA conference in August 2011 and launched its successor in August 2012. It is likely that Samsung is planning to launch the third version some time later this year.
