Samsung Galaxy Note III rumoured to have a monster 6.3-inch display

The bigger the better seems to be the new mantra of mobile phone makers. Samsung stretched the mobile screens to 5.3-inch with the introduction of its Galaxy Note device and 5.5-inch with the Galaxy Note II. Now, the company seems to be aiming even higher (read: bigger).

If reports in Korea Times are to be believed, Samsung has already started working on the Galaxy Note III, which is said to have 6.3-inch screen.

The world's biggest technology company has been developing the Galaxy Note III with a 6.3-inch screen using an OLED display, according to officials from a local parts suppliers, while the company will start the first commercial sale of 55-inch OLED TVs from late next year.

The report also mentions that in 2013, Samsung will be cutting down its investment in the Liquid Crystal display (LCD) units and concentrating more on organic light-emitting diode (OLED) and plastic-based flexible displays.

Samsung had launched its Galaxy Note phablet device at the IFA 2011. It had 5.3-inch display and came with a stylus. At IFA 2012, Samsung announced its successor, Samsung Galaxy Note II. This device features 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD display, 1.6GHz quad-core CPU and 2GB of RAM.

Both these devices have been quite successful and Samsung has already announced that it has managed to sell 5 million units of Samsung Galaxy Note II just two months since the phablet started shipping.

In the recent past, there have also been reports that Samsung might be working on an affordable 5-inch phablet device that might see the light of the day soon.

According to the grapevine, Samsung is expected to unveil its Galaxy S IV smartphone early next year, perhaps at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013. Samsung Galaxy S IV is rumoured have a 4.99-inch Super AMOLED full-HD display.
