It has been expected for a while that Samsung will soon unveil variants of its flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5, such as the Galaxy S5 Zoom and Galaxy S5 mini. A new leak suggests another variant of the flagship, the rugged Galaxy S5 Active.

On Friday, pointing to the existence of the device, the prolific tipster @evleaks tweeted a picture containing the list of 277 APKs allegedly running on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 Active. It's not the first time that that the @evleaks has suggested that Samsung might soon release the rugged variant of the Galaxy S5. @evleaks had earlier suggested that Samsung is working on a SM-G870x model, which should be released as the Galaxy S5 Active.

The last tweet had mentioned, "Samsung SM-G870x is the Galaxy S5 Active. Coming to AT&T and Sprint, among other carriers."

So far, there are no known specifications of the Galaxy S5 Active, but it is speculated to be more rugged than the predecessor Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, and may get released alongside the alleged Galaxy S5 Zoom and S5 Mini.

According to earlier reports, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini is speculated to include a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display with HD (720p) display, which can be considered scaled down when compared to Galaxy S5's 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) resolution. However, there is no word whether it will pack the fingerprint scanner and heart-rate sensor, just like the Galaxy S5.

Samsung this week sent out invites for a media event on 29 April, called 'Kapture The Moment'. The event is expected to see the Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom unveiled, thought to be called the Galaxy K Zoom.

Recent reports about the alleged Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom indicated it might feature the model number SM-C115. The purported benchmark listing specifications for the alleged Galaxy S5 Zoom (SM-C115) suggest that the device will run Android 4.4.2 KitKat. It might feature a 4.8-inch display with a 720x1280 pixel resolution and will pack in 1.3GHz hexa-core (Samsung Exynos 5 Hexa) CPU and a Mali-T624 GPU.
