Variants of Samsung's current flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5, have been expected ever since the company unveiled the original at MWC 2014. Apart from a mini-variant, a camera phone-variant (now official), and a lite-variant, Samsung is also expected to be making a premium-variant and a rugged-variant, thought to be called the Galaxy S5 Prime and Galaxy S5 Active.

Thealleged Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime is now expected to be launched in mid-June. The news came from a Korean website, Naver, which suggests that the unlocked version of the smartphone can be priced in Korea for KRW 900,000 (roughly $880 or Rs. 52,000). Earlier there were rumours from Korea suggesting it to be limited edition smartphone with a QHD Super AMOLED display, specifically designed to counter the LG G3.

Theyet-to-be-announced Galaxy S5 Prime smartphone has been in rumours for a while now. The smartphone was also recently spotted as listed with model number SM-G906K and the name Galaxy S5 Prime on a Korean website, olleh, with a Spigen back cover.

The other alleged variants of the rumored Galaxy S5 Prime, the SM-G906S and SM-G906L, were also spotted as listed on other sites, including some official ones. A Dutch website had spotted the model numbers under official Samsung documents in its Find My Mobile service. The same model number (SM-G906S) number made an appearance in a listing on a Hong Kong website with pricing (HKD 5,070) and specifications that included 3GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 805 processor - better specifications than the official Galaxy S5.

Although the Samsung Galaxy S5 (Review | Pictures) is dust and water-resistant with IP67 certification, it seems the South-Korean giant is still expected to have a rugged variant in-line, such as the last generation's Samsung Galaxy S4 Active. The alleged Samsung Galaxy S5 Active was said to have been spotted in a listing on Samsung's official support pages at Samsung Norway, Samsung Sweden, and Samsung Finland, which all featured the model number SM-G850F, which suggests it to be the model number for Europe or it could be the International variant.

Earlier the alleged Galaxy S5 Active smartphone was rumoured for release in the US with model number SM-G870x via AT&T and Sprint. The alleged specifications of the Galaxy S5 Active (also said to have model numbers SM-G870A and SM-G860 for different variants) include a similar 5.1-inch full-HD display as the Samsung Galaxy S5, along with LTE and NFC connectivity, apart from a 2800mAh battery.
